Try these before you call
A good share of dishwasher call-outs come down to four things, and you can rule them out in a few minutes.
Check the power
Confirm the dishwasher is plugged in and the breaker has not tripped. If you can, try the socket with another appliance to rule it out entirely.
Check the water supply
The supply valve needs to be fully open, and the inlet hose free of kinks or clogs. No water in means nothing works, however healthy the machine is.
Clear the filter and spray arms
Food debris in the filter, the spray arms or the drain pump is behind most drainage and poor-cleaning complaints. A thorough clean often fixes it outright.
Check the detergent
The right detergent, in the right amount. Too much, or the wrong type, produces poor results and residue that looks like a fault but is not.
How to run the
diagnostic mode
Your Indesit dishwasher can report its own fault before anyone opens it. Three steps, and the panel tells you where to look.
Unplug the dishwasher at the socket, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in to reset it.
Press and hold the programme button, then switch the machine on while still holding it.
The control panel lights flash a sequence. Check the sequence against your user manual to read the fault.
Most faults are fixable. Before you replace a dishwasher, let a technician look, because the repair usually costs far less than a new machine.

Why is my Indesit dishwasher not draining?
Usually a blocked filter, drain hose or pump. It is one of the quicker jobs, and clearing the filter regularly stops it recurring.
The dishes come out dirty. Why?
Often it is loading, a clogged filter, or blocked spray arms stopping the water reaching everything. We check the arms, filter and inlet on the visit.
How do I reset it?
Unplug the machine, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in. If the fault returns after a reset, it needs a technician rather than another reset.
