What tends to go wrong
A handful of faults account for most dryer visits. Running a dryer in some of these states wastes electricity and, in a couple, is worth stopping.
It runs but nothing dries
The most common complaint. Usually a heating fault or restricted airflow, and running it repeatedly in that state burns power without getting you anywhere.
Cycles take far longer than before
A gradual change like this normally means airflow is being restricted somewhere in the system, and it tends to worsen rather than settle.
A clogged filter or vent
Lint builds up in the filter and the condenser or vent, which chokes airflow and makes the dryer work harder. It is the cheapest thing to keep on top of and behind a lot of faults.
Noise from the drum
Mechanical wear inside. Worth attending to early, because the parts responsible are usually much cheaper to replace before they fail completely.
It will not start
Could be the power supply, a door switch, or the control board. A technician narrows it down quickly rather than you replacing parts on guesswork.

Why is my dryer not drying?
Usually a heating fault or restricted airflow from a clogged filter, condenser or vent. Clearing the airflow path solves a good share of these; the rest need a technician.
